I was just reading about Mr. Blanas. He’d say to me all the time that he was going to leave his wife and that we were going to elope. He was 90-something at the time. In this particular entry I mentioned that he traded in his cane for a walker. I teared up a bit. Droopy eyes but always smiling.

Fall is, by far, my favorite season. Blustery days, crisper evenings, higher probability of rain, shorter days, Halloween (!), soup, pumpkin pie, wearing more tights, coats, scarves, and sweatshirts.

I’m in a good mood, too, when I have no reason to be. This is nice.

Summer Session 1 is officially over. I made my class fill out the evaluation and I must say that I am pretty pleased. The only negative thing written was something that I was already aware of: that I wasn’t too sure on how to treat awkward silences/students who won’t participate.

Well, my initial goal was accomplished at least. According to them, I created an open, warm, and equal atmosphere comfortable enough for them to share in. Oh, and I was “enthusiastic,” but that could just be that I am a spaz.

I think the most rewarding moment was when I didn’t have to give them an activity. We just talked. I asked questions and they talked. About everything.
